Theme 2025: “Unity and Community” The theme for International Paramedics Day 2025 is “Unity and Community.” It celebrates the essential connection between paramedics and the communities they serve. This theme highlights: Unity and community are at the heart of every successful emergency response — from the 108 ambulance driver working in rural India, to the urban paramedic navigating city traffic to save lives. Why July 8? July 8 commemorates the birth anniversary of Dominique-Jean Larrey (1766), the chief surgeon of Napoleon’s army, considered the father of modern paramedicine. He pioneered the idea of mobile field hospitals and rapid medical response – laying the foundation for today’s emergency medical services (EMS).
